Belarus plans to step up cooperation with CITIC Group in agriculture

PUKHOVICHI DISTRICT, 27 July (BelTA) – Belarus plans to develop cooperation with China’s CITIC Group in agriculture, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy told the media on 27 July, BelTA informs.

“During today’s negotiations at the Agriculture and Food Ministry we have invited CITIC Group to take part in five projects. They include beef processing, poultry breeding and poultry supplies to China in line with the corresponding agreements and certification. We also suggested supplying milk powder to China and building there a plant that will produce 8-9 types of dairy products, including yogurt, sour cream, ice cream, and others. We agreed that on 14-17 August the Belarusian agriculture and food minister and representatives of COFCO Engineering & Technology will meet with food producers in China,” Mikhail Rusy said.

Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation (BNBBC) is currently implementing the project to set up fully-integrated high-tech agricultural production for 2016-2032. CITIC Group acts as a general contractor and shareholder. A ground-breaking ceremony was held on 27 July. “This will be a complex of 14 plants with goods growth prospects,” Mikhail Rusy noted.

The ceremony was followed by official negotiations between the Belarusian government and CITIC Group. “We are very impressed by the investment climate in Belarus. We pay special attention to the joint projects in the field of agriculture. We believe that this area is very promising,” said Chairman of the Board of Directors of CITIC Group Chang Zhenming.
