Belarus plans to increase farming exports to Asia

MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – Belarus plans to increase the export of crop growing products to the Asian countries, Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Vladimir Grakun told the media, BelTA has learned.

“As for Russia, I think that we will try our best to supply the same amount of products as we did in 2017. At the same time we will be increasing our supplies to other countries: Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, and China,” Vladimir Grakun said. If Russia needs more products, Belarus is ready to do it, the deputy minister said speaking about the exports of potatoes, vegetables and fruit.

In 2017 Belarus exported more than 380,000 tonnes of potatoes and, according to Vladimir Grakun, that “the volume is much bigger than in the previous years”. Belarus sold its potato to Russia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Serbia.

According to the deputy minister, the exports increase mainly thanks to the timely potato, vegetable and fruit development programs. “We have good storage facilities for our potato, vegetables and fruit,” Vladimir Grakun said.
