MINSK, 4 November (BelTA) – Belarus has announced plans to expand its exports to China up to $100 million in 2020, Aleksei Bogdanov, Head of the Main Department for Foreign Economic Activities of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, told the ONT TV Channel, BelTA has learned.

“We are closely working with China. Our export is estimated at $61 million as of today. By the year-end it is expected to grow up to $90 million. In 2020 we are set to approach $100 million. We export a broad range of merchandise. This year the export has grown on the back of meat products: Belarus shipped 5,500 tonnes of poultry and 2,500 tonnes of beef,” Aleksei Bogdanov said.

In its urge to boost exports to China, Belarus greatly counts on the 2nd China International Import Expo that will be held in Shanghai on 5-10 November 2019. the Belarusian delegation is expected to meet with Minister of the General Administration of Customs of China on the sidelines of the forum. The parties are to discuss a possibility to allow more Belarusian beef and poultry producers to export to China. Another point on the agenda is supplies of meat preserves.

In addition to that, a meeting with Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade is to take place on the fringes of the forum. “In September we shipped beef to Iran, for the first time over the past seven years. This batch has already been sold. We are in talks on the next delivery and on a possibility to scale up trade,” he said.
