MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Belarus plans to increase its baby food exports to Pakistan to $1.1 million in 2017, Aleksei Bogdanov, the head of the main division for foreign economic affairs at the Agriculture and Food Ministry, told reporters as he attended the meeting of the Belarus-Pakistan working group on cooperation in agriculture on 24 February, BelTA has learned.
“As for our export to Pakistan, it went up by 38% in 2016. We sold $981,000 worth of products. We mostly supplied baby food manufactured by Bellakt. Belarus plans to increase its baby food exports to Pakistan to the level of $1.1 million in 2017,” Aleksei Bogdanov noted.
The official pointed out that apart from baby food, the Agriculture and Food Ministry is also considering the possibility of exporting skimmed milk powder and full-cream milk powder, butter, condensed milk, cheese, poultry meat and beef products to Pakistan.
At the meeting of the working group, the Pakistani side presented a list of products they would like to import from Belarus. “Besides, they presented a list of dairy companies that they want to work directly with. In order to boost our cooperation, we exchanged our phytosanitary and veterinary import requirements. We also agreed to hold the next meeting of the working group on agriculture in Pakistan in March 2018,” the press service of the ministry said after the meeting.
