Belarus plans to get five poultry plants certified for Chinese market in H1

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – Belarus plans to get five poultry plants certified for the Chinese market in H1, Aleksei Bogdanov, the head of the main department for foreign economic affairs at the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told the media on 19 February.

“We have two meat processing plants certified to deliver beef to China. We are planning to get five poultry plants certified to supply poultry meat to the Chinese market,” Aleksei Bogdanov noted.

He noted that last year marked the transformation in the structure of the Belarusian farm exports to China. Earlier Belarus exported mainly raw materials (flax fibers, fur pelts, rawhide). Today the major export item is dairy products. “The share of dairy products in Belarus’ export to China rose from 11% in 2016 to 64% in 2017. Belarus’ total farm exports to China made up $9.9 million, of them $6.3 million were dairy deliveries. These mainly include UHT-milk, dry milk products, first batches of butter and cheese,” Aleksei Bogdanov said.

This year Belarus plans to expand the range of agricultural products exported to China. “We will try to expand the exports by using the Silk Road logistics and deliver goods with a shorter shelf life that can travel not only by sea but also by rail within two weeks,” Aleksei Bogdanov said.
