MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) -  We are planning to export ready-to-eat meat products to China, Ksenia Meleshko, the head of the Directorate for Foreign Economic Activity at the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, told BelTA.

"China is a strategically important trading partner for the Belarusian processing industry. We have been working hard to tap into this market. In 2022, Belarusian food exports to China posted a good growth. Last year the increase in value terms was 40% over 2021, and we are not planning to reduce this figure. Meat and dairy products traditionally hold the lion’s share in exports. In particular these are poultry, beef, dry dairy products and whole milk products," said Ksenia Meleshko.

According to her, over the past few years, China has been ranked second among buyers of Belarusian products from among more than a hundred countries.

"In 2022, the Agriculture and Food Ministry held a number of meetings with Chinese business to expand the range of exports. We are planning to step up trade and launch the export of ready-to-eat poultry and beef, including canned meat. In connection with the upcoming visit of the Belarusian head of state to China, plans are in place to sign a number of documents on cooperation, including in the field of food supplies," Ksenia Meleshko said.

Belarus’ exports of food and agricultural raw materials in 2022 increased by 24.2% and reached $8.3 billion. “Belarus attaches special attention to the Chinese market, in particular to the export of sausages, ham, poultry and beef,” Agriculture and Food Ministry Igor Brylo said at the outcome meeting of the ministry's collegium.
