Belarus plans to expand business ties with Far East

MINSK, 6 September (BelTA) – Belarus plans to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with the Far East. Partnership terms and prospects were discussed during a visit of the Belarusian delegation to Vladivostok where Belarusian representatives took part in the Eastern Economic Forum on 2-3 September, BelTA learnt from the National Center of Marketing and Price Study.

The Belarusian delegation was led by Deputy Director of the Foreign Economic Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ruslan Yesin. The delegation also comprised head of the Belarusian embassy’s office in Khabarovsk Alexander Bobtsov and acting director of the National Center of Marketing and Price Study Alexander Zapolsky.

On the sidelines of the forum the Belarusian delegation met with Kamchatka Krai Governor Vladimir Ilyukhin. “The parties agreed to update the legal framework of the bilateral cooperation and also organize a visit of a Belarusian delegation to Kamchatka Krai in October-November with a view to establishing direct contacts between businessmen. The most promising areas for cooperation are trade, tourism and construction,” said representatives of the National Center of Marketing and Price Study.

The Belarusian delegation also held talks with Japanese and Far Eastern businessmen. “During the meeting with Director of the Japanese Association for Trade with Russia and Newly Independent States Kunio Okada an agreement was reached to organize a series of economic events with the participation of Belarusian and Japanese business in Minsk, Moscow and Vladivostok, Tokyo. The parties also discussed the possibility to implement joint projects in agriculture, solid domestic waste recycling, construction,” the center added.

Talks were also held with dealers of Belarusian products in the Far East. In particular, ProfMash-DV, an official dealer of Amkodor Holding Company and suppler of MTZ vehicles, expressed interest in expanding the assortment of Belarusian products exported to the Far Eastern market. The parties also discussed ways to step up deliveries of MAZ vehicles to the regions of the Far East.

“Active advancement of Belarus’ interests to the regions of Far East will help not only to strengthen bilateral trade and economic relations but also enter the markets of the neighboring countries: China, Japan, the Republic of Korea,” the center stressed.
