MINSK, 8 November (BelTA) – The trade between Belarus and Pakistan has been recently gaining momentum, the Embassy of Belarus in Pakistan told BelTA.
In January-September 2016 the trade between Belarus and Pakistan totaled $38.6 million, with Belarus exporting $30 million worth of products to Pakistan. The deliveries of Belarusian tractors increased by 7.8%, tractor parts by 55.4%. The deliveries of Belarusian tyres to Pakistan showed a 4.7% increase, while the exports of ready-made food products (infant milk formula) went up by 13.9%. Over the nine months of 2016 Belarus exported 1,395 tonnes of newsprint worth $613,900.
Belarus also increased imports from Pakistan, including food products, vegetables and fruit by 3.4 times, footwear by almost 3 times, cosmetic and manicure sets by more than 3 times.
In November 2014 Belarus opened its embassy in Pakistan. The parties promptly established relations in the trade and economic sector.
The first official visit of the President of Belarus to Pakistan took place on 28-29 May 2015. In August 2015 the Prime Minister of Pakistan paid a visit to Belarus. In October 2016 Alexander Lukashenko visited Pakistan on his second official visit.
