MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Pakistan Andrei Yermolovich and Pakistan’s Minister of Industries and Production Khan Jatoi outlined the priority areas of cooperation in the industrial sector during a meeting on 24 February, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Pakistan.

“The most promising areas of cooperation in the industrial sector include the joint production of car components (taking into account the extensive development of car assembly plants in Pakistan), joint manufacturing of agricultural equipment (keeping in mind the agricultural focus of some of the Pakistani regions), and the joint production of electrical products and equipment, including generators (taking into account yet frequent power outages in Pakistan and the country’s gradually developing energy sector),” the embassy said.

The parties also talked over the measures to boost bilateral cooperation in the industrial sector, including the agenda of the forthcoming second meeting of the Belarusian-Pakistani joint working group on industrial cooperation.

The parties took note of an increase in the supplies of Belarusian tractors to Pakistan in 2016 (to the total tune of $32.1 million), and those of tractor parts (up $1.8 million). Apart from that, Belarus shipped its MAZ trucks worth of $1.1 million to the Pakistani market for the first time in the history of bilateral relations.
