MOSCOW, 1 February (BelTA) - Belarusian-Nicaraguan cooperation and the development of the legal framework, the interaction between Belarus and Nicaragua in the UN were discussed at a meeting between Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi and Nicaraguan Ambassador to Russia with concurrent accreditation to Belarus Alba Azucena Torres Mejia, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission.
“Heads of diplomatic missions praised the constructive political dialogue between Belarus and Nicaragua and encouraged its intensification at all levels,” the Belarusian diplomatic mission said. “The ambassadors pointed out to the significant untapped potential in the trade and economic area and discussed the ways of increasing the trade. Among the most promising areas Dmitry Krutoi singled out the supply of engineering products produced in Belarus, including tractors, trucks, agricultural and road-building equipment. He drew attention to the successful Belarusian experience in applying advanced domestic technologies in agriculture.”
The Nicaraguan ambassador emphasized that she often visits Belarus and expressed the government's great interest in strengthening ties with Belarus, affirming her readiness to do her utmost to help. The diplomat announced her intention to visit Minsk in the near future and hold a number of meetings at ministries and agencies.
The parties exchanged views on possible dates for joint events, including political consultations and the next meeting of the Belarus-Nicaragua joint commission for trade and economic cooperation.
“During the discussion of the multilateral agenda Dmitry Krutoi and Alba Azucena Torres Mejia confirmed the focus of Belarus and Nicaragua on building a just and democratic world order based on international law and respect for the sovereign equality of states,” the press service emphasized.
