MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast will develop cooperation in the industrial areas. The issue was discussed at the talks between Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast of Russia Valery Shantsev on 20 April, BelTA has learned.
The parties talked over the cooperation of Belarusian companies with the Russian automobile manufacturer GAZ Group, Vyksa Steel Works, Arzamas Machinery Plant and Peshelan Gypsum Plant.
It was noted at the meeting that the parties maintain strong cooperation ties. Nizhny Novgorod Oblast assembles Belarusian lifts, operates the Belshina trading house. Dealers of such mechanical engineering giants as Gomselmash, MTZ, MAZ and Amkodor are represented in the Russian region.
The Russian region plans to buy Belarusian urban passenger vehicles, including modern commuter trains and electric buses. The parties also discussed cooperation in infrastructure development, especially ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Nizhny Novgorod Oblast is expected to play an important role in the organization of the championship.
