MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) — Six new pellet mills in the Pruzhany, Zhitkovichi, Mozyr, Klichev, Novogrudok, and Borisov forestries shipped more than €1.1 million worth of fuel pellets to buyers in October 2020, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Forestry Ministry.
“In October, six new pellet mills produced 8,400 tonnes of fuel pellets, which amounted to 65% of their monthly production capacity. Last month they shipped 9,900 tonnes of pellets worth over €1.1 million. This is 5.5 times more than it was shipped in October 2019,” the press service said.
The new production facilities have produced about 34,000 tonnes of fuel pellets so far. Some of the mills have almost reached the design capacity. In October, the production capacity of the pellet mill in Pruzhany forestry was 98% reached, that in Borisov forestry - 95%. The latter has produced the most fuel pellets of all – 10,300 tonnes - since the start of the year.
The industry is looking for new markets and ways to reach the end consumer. In order to study the market, Bellesexport offers a certain volume of fuel pellets at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange every month. Today the largest traders that supply pellets to the EU countries are accredited at the exchange. Contacts with well-known European energy holding companies and their suppliers have been established.
