Belarus negotiating participation in oil, gas surveying, extraction in Sudan

MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – Belarus and Sudan are negotiating the participation of Belarusian companies in the surveying and development of oil and gas fields in Sudan, BelTA learned from Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko.

Vladimir Semashko said that the possibility of selling Belarus-made equipment for oil and gas surveying and extraction to Sudan is being discussed as well. “We have equipment for oil and gas surveying as well as oil and gas extraction. In other words, we can work together in many ways,” said the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus.

Apart from partnership in the fuel and energy sphere Belarus and Sudan are considering prospects of cooperation in other branches of economy, including mechanical engineering and agriculture.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Egypt with concurrent accreditation to Sudan Sergei Rachkov said that Belarus is ready to advance cooperation with Sudan in a number of areas. “The visit of the Belarus president to Sudan can be described as a momentous event. The economic effect includes contracts worth more than $40 million. I hope the sum will be doubled or maybe even tripled literally within one year,” he said.
