MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – A national exposition of Belarus will be arranged for the first time during the international agriculture, animal husbandry, food, beverages, and packing technologies expo Agrofood, which will take place in Nigeria on 26-28 March, BelTA learned from Yevgeny Vvedensky, Director of the exhibition enterprise BelInterExpo of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on 14 February.

The expo will take place in Lagos where over 20 million people live and will feature more than ten national pavilions of European countries, including Germany, Netherlands, and Italy. It will be the first ever national exposition of Belarus in Nigeria. The same is true for the exposition of Belarusian manufacturers during the expo.

Nigeria may be interested in Belarusian vehicles, machines, equipment, vegetable growing technologies, food, and beverages. “Nigeria boasts large reserves of hydrocarbons, respectively it has money to buy road construction machines and agricultural ones. The country cannot produce enough food on its own, this is why the largest food producers are busy exploring this market. We believe now is a good time to help Belarusian companies penetrate the market, find potential partners,” the official noted.

A total of eight national expositions at foreign expos will be organized this year. Apart from Nigeria Belarusian companies are invited to participate in an international expo of manufacturing automation solutions in Seoul, South Korea, an agriculture and animal husbandry expo in Armstrong, Argentina, an international food, hotel business, and agriculture expo in Nairobi, Kenya, an industrial expo in Lahore, Pakistan, the international expo Tech Industry in Riga, Latvia, and Trade Expo Indonesia in Jakarta. Apart from that, Belarus will be represented during the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai. The national expositions will be organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI), the National Center for Marketing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the State Science and Technology Committee.

Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Andrei Shakhanovich underlined that a great deal of preparations has to be done before the decision to arrange a national exposition as part of a foreign expo is made. “Proposals of diplomatic missions abroad are analyzed as well as proposals of government agencies. Instructions and decisions of the head of state, the government regarding export to distant countries and the penetration of new, promising markets are certainly taken into account,” he said.

Director of the National Center for Marketing Valery Sadokho noted that, first of all, expos allow demonstrating opportunities in investment projects of Belarusian companies. “In the course of preparing for expos we use our regional branches to take a look at suggested investment projects and business plans. We come to expos with concrete proposals on investing in Belarus,” he said.
