ISLAMABAD, 26 November (BelTA) - Belarusian enterprises have plans to supply cargo, mining, road-building machinery, and also utilities vehicles to Pakistan, Belarusian Industry Minister Aleksandr Yefimov told the media on the sidelines of the talks between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan in Islamabad on 26 November, BelTA has learned.

According to Aleksandr Yefimov, one of the primary tasks for the Industry Ministry is to organize a visit of the Pakistani delegation to Belarus within two weeks and to consider in detail all the areas of mutual interest. By January, the parties set to get ready to sign specific contracts and agreements.

“During the visit, the enterprises of the Industry Ministry carried out a bit amount of work and reached the signing of important contracts. We plan to set up two assembly plants for tractors. It will be a model range up to 60hp and over 100hp, both of which are in great demand in the Pakistani market,” the minister said.

A tractor is just a tool for field work, he said. “We agreed to go further and offered Pakistani partners to organize a joint venture for the production of trailed, mounted farm machinery, which together will make it possible to perform the whole range of technological works,” Aleksandr Yefimov said.

“An agreement has been signed to launch a facility to assemble Belarusian engines for tractor assembly plants and delivery to the secondary market in Pakistan. About ten enterprises of our system are working together with me. Each of them has received an ambitious task to find a partner,” the minister emphasized.

Pakistan is also highly interested in passenger vehicles, especially Belarusian electric buses. Pakistan plans to replace passenger transport with internal combustion engines with eco-friendly vehicles. “Here, we offer not only electric passenger vehicles, but also a network of charging infrastructure based on the “smart city” principle, Aleksandr Yefimov added.
