Belarus’ MTZ, Russia’s Vologda Oblast agree on tractor localization roadmap

MOSCOW, 15 February (BelTA) – The Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark) and Russia’s Vologda Oblast have coordinated a roadmap to localize tractor production in the region, BelTA learned from the press service of the Vologda Oblast governor following the meeting of Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov with MTZ Director General Fyodor Domotenko at the Investment Forum in Sochi.

“The parties discussed the localization of the production of the Minsk Tractor Plant at the site of the Cherepovets Casting and Mechanical Plant as part of the joint Russian-Belarusian machine-building cluster in Vologda Oblast,” the press service said.

Vologda Oblast and Belarus have mutual interests in various lines of activity, including the economy, Oleg Kuvshinnikov said. The partnership bewteen two machine-building enterprises: MTZ and the Cherepovets Casting and Mechanical Plant, is a vivid example. This cooperation helped Vologda Oblast become one of the leading tractor producers in Russia.

“The successful implementation of the Union State project will result in the expansion of cooperation ties, the development of new technologies, and the creation of new high-performance jobs. The Vologda Oblast Government will continue to provide all possible support to the machine-building cluster to strengthen the social and economic ties between our region and Belarus,” Oleg Kuvshinnikov said.
