MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Moldova intend to expand cooperation in agribusiness. The possibilities were discussed as Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Ivan Krupko met with Moldovan Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development, and Environment Ion Perju, the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

Ivan Krupko and Ion Perju discussed an increase in trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Moldova, including the expansion of mutual deliveries of agricultural products and food. The sides discussed the expansion of cooperation in seed farming (creation of hybrids of Belarusian-Moldovan seed selection), organization of training and advanced training for Moldovan specialists in agrarian universities, expansion of cooperation in veterinary science and phytosanitary measures.

Ivan Krupko invited Moldovan colleagues to participate in the Belagro expo, which will take place on 1-5 June, in order to get familiar with the export potential of Belarus’ meat and dairy industries and in order to establish business ties.

In 2020 Belarus’ export of food and raw agricultural materials to Moldova totaled $21.5 million or 115% as against 2019. Belarus’ exports to Moldova included dairy products, sugar, potatoes, and fish products. In 2020 Belarus exported eggs and chicken meat to Moldova for the first time.
