ASHGABAT, 30 March (BelTA) – Belarus suggests enabling high-speed rail service between Ashgabat and Turkmenbashi using Stadler rapid trains, BelTA learned from Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Anatoly Kalinin on 30 March.
Anatoly Kalinin said: “We’ve suggested using Belarus-made rapid commuter trains Stadler for transportation between Ashgabat and the port city of Turkmenbashi. We’ve sketched out the technical proposal and the price range. Even a ten-year installment plan was on the table as part of the bold offers from Stadler Company, provided two trains were ordered.”
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the high-speed rail service would come in handy taking into account the vigorous development of infrastructure in anticipation of the fifth Asian Games, which are scheduled to take place in Turkmenistan in September.
Anatoly Kalinin remarked that Stadler trains are already used in Azerbaijan and had earned a good reputation.
