CHOLPON-ATA, 9 August (BelTA) - Belarus looks forward to the agreement on the distribution of import customs duties between the budgets of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union by the end of 2019, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko told the media when commenting on today's meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Choplon-Ata in Kyrgyzstan, BelTA has learned.
“We hope we will be able to come to a consensus. The heads of state expect us to find a solution,” Igor Petrishenko said when asked whether the EAEU member states will be able to agree on the new rules.
The vice premier described the meeting as a constructive exchange of opinion. He did not specify Belarus’ position but said that a reasonable compromise must be found. “The most important thing is that our partners understand this too. This multilateral platform is the place to look for a reasonable compromise, without damaging national interests. This is our job: to find a mutually acceptable solution to any issue, including such a sensitive matter as the distribution of import customs duties,” Igor Petrishenko said.
As it has been reported earlier, Belarus suggests revising the standards of distribution of import customs duties. The current ones will be in force till 31 December 2019 and establish the following proportions: Armenia - 1.22%, Belarus - 4.56%, Kazakhstan - 7.055%, Kyrgyzstan - 1.9%, Russia - 85.265%.
