Belarus, Kyrgyzstan discuss cooperation in organ transplantation, heart surgery

BISHKEK, 13 October (BelTA-Kabar) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Kyrgyzstan Viktor Denisenko met with Kyrgyz Minister of Health Talantbek Batyraliev to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation in healthcare, organ transplantation, heart surgery, pharmaceutics and medical tourism.

Viktor Denisenko said that the Belarusian side is eager to strengthen cooperation in these areas.

The press service of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan said that the parties also talked about the participation of a Kyrgyz delegation in a regional conference to be held in Minsk on 2 and 3 November. The conference will discuss ways to improve access to cheap, high-quality antiretroviral and antituberculosis drugs in the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

The forum will bring together the health ministers of 12 countries, inclduing Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine, and also representatives of international organizations, key partners, experts and representatives of civil society.

The health ministers will adopt a declaration on expanding the scope of treatment and improving the access to cheap, high-quality antiretroviral and antituberculosis drugs in the countries of the region.

The conference is organized by the Belarusian Ministry of Health with the support of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the Joint United Nations Program on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS), and the Stop TB Partnership.
