MINSK, 1 September (BelTA) - Belarus and Israel are discussing the ways to promote of the joint Agro-Industrial Park project, the Belarusian Minsitry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA when commenting on today's meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Israel Vladimir Skvortsov and Minister of Immigrant Absorption of the State of Israel, Chairman of the Israeli part of the Joint Belarusian-Israeli Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation Zeev Elkin.
The parties discussed the preparations for the next session of the joint Belarusian-Israeli committee on trade and economic cooperation, and the joint actions to promote the project to set up the Belarusian-Israeli Agro-Industrial Park on the territory of Belarus.
In addition, the two parties exchanged views on a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda. "It was emphasized that the implementation of the intergovernmental agreement on visa-free travel, which will come into force on 26 November 2015, will give a significant impetus to the development of the entire range of relations between the two countries," the press service said. During the consideration of the issues of trade and economic cooperation the parties noted the growth in bilateral trade in 2014-2015 and prospects of further expansion of bilateral turnover, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added.
As was reported, the State Committee for Science and Technology was working on the project to set up the Belarusian-Israeli Agro-Industrial Park on the instruction of the Government. The Park was planned to be located in Orsha and Tolochin Districts, Vitebsk Oblast. The Park is expected to focus on the biotechnology for animal husbandry and milk processing, production of vegetables.
