MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – Belarus offered the World Bank to co-implement $1 billion worth of joint projects in energy saving, Chairman of the Belarusian State Standardization Committee Viktor Nazarenko noted during the online conference hosted by BelTA on 9 August.
In his words, Belarus and the World Bank have been successfully carrying out joint projects in energy saving, energy efficiency, and alternative energy for many years.
Currently the sides are conducting a research to define practical measures to boost Belarus’ energy efficiency. There are plans to implement them later in a new joint project. Belarus is also discussing the possibility of borrowing additional $80 million from the World Bank to construct over 40 boiler houses running on wood fuel.
“All in all, in 2016-2017 Belarus sent proposals to the World Bank to carry out over $1 billion worth of joint projects in energy saving,” Viktor Nazarenko added.
