MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) – Belarus is considering a possibility to implement energy projects in Egypt’s Aswan, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Egypt.
The matter was discussed during the trip of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt Sergei Rachkov to the Aswan Governorate on 26-28 January. The Belarusian diplomat met with Aswan Governor Ahmed Ibrahim Mohamed to discuss the state and prospects of Belarus’ cooperation with this region, ways to intensify contacts in trade, economy and the humanitarian field, promotion of MAZ, BelAZ, Amkodor and MTZ vehicles and machinery and increase in mutual tourist flows.
The Belarusian ambassador also met with Chairman of the Aswan Chamber of Commerce Mohamed Abu El-Kassem and representatives of the local business community. The parties agreed on setting up a joint working group that will draft and implement economic projects.
The Belarusian diplomat also toured the Aswan High Dam and met with the administration of this facility that had been built with the help of Belarusian specialists and machinery in the 1960s. The parties agreed to work out possible avenues of cooperation in the energy sector.
