MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) – Belarus hopes that container shipping will get an additional boost in the Silk Road Economic Belt project, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Kalinin said at a joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus on 29 May, BelTA informs.
Today, 19 container trains make regular trips along the Belarusian railway. Five new joint projects on cargo transportation from Asia and Europe and vice versa were implemented in 2014. “We hope that the container shipping business will be further developed within the Silk Road Economic Belt project,” the Vice Premier said.
In the freight traffic the priority is given to container shipping, Anatoly Kalinin said. Belarus jointly with Russia and Kazakhstan has set up a united transport and logistic company which is to become a big container shipping operator, the Deputy Prime Minister said.
