MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) – In H1 2024 Belarus' gross external debt went down by $135 million to $36.6 billion as of 1 July 2024, BelTA learned from the Belarusian National Bank.
In relation to GDP, the external debt decreased from 51.3% as of 1 January 2024 to 50.5% as of 1 July 2024.
Net external debt position, which equals gross external debt less external assets in the form of debt instruments, decreased from 13.1% to 12.3% of GDP in H1 2024.
The bulk of Belarus' external debt is still represented by long-term borrowings (71.3%), which suggests low risks in the field of external lending.
