GRODNO, 17 September (BelTA) - Grodno Oblast of Belarus and Kurgan Oblast of the Russian Federation are determined to develop cooperation, Grodno Oblast Vice Governor Vitaly Nevera told the media following a meeting with a delegation from the Russian region, BelTA has learned.
“Regional interaction is fundamental for Grodno Oblast. The head of state has also set the task to promote interregional cooperation. Today we have agreed to sign agreements with Kurgan Oblast both at the regional level and at the level of the cities of Grodno and Kurgan,” Vitaly Nevera said.
According to the Grodno Oblast vice governor, the two regions have a lot of points of contact. “First of all, it is healthcare. Secondly, it is exchange of competencies in agriculture and industry. There are opportunities to develop tourism, and to develop cultural and educational ties. We discussed establishment of contacts between our universities, exchange of competences and exchange of students. I am confident that today's meeting will become a reliable foundation for mutually beneficial and interesting cooperation,” Vitaly Nevera said.
“The Kurgan Oblast delegation is visiting Belarus on a return visit. We have areas that can interest both parties. Certain agreements have been reached. We plan to sign twinning agreements. And further build on the points of contact,” Sergei Gavrin, Kurgan Oblast Acting Vice Governor on Economic Policy, said adding that among the promising areas of cooperation were agro-industrial complex, interaction, exchange of experience, and technologies.
