MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) - Belarus is gearing up to launch full-scale production of electric cars, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Parkhomchik said in an interview to Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus has approved a comprehensive program to produce a pilot batch of five domestic electric cars. There is no doubt that the task will be accomplished in due time. We plan to complete the production of these five electric cars in August-September. Then we will carry out trial operation and tests. By the end of the year we plan to launch serial production of these electric cars,” Piotr Parkhomchik said.
Plans are also in place to produce all the component base for domestic electric cars at the enterprises under the Industry Ministry. Decisions on the plants which will be producing the necessary components have been made.
