MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – Ways to expand the Belarusian-French trade and economic regional cooperation and the prospects of Belarus’ participation in exhibitions and fairs organized in the French region Alsace were discussed at a meeting between Belarus’ Ambassador to France Pavel Latushko and President of the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg Robert Herrmann and a representative of the Alsace Chamber of Commerce and Industry, BelTA learnt from the Embassy of Belarus in France.
Pavel Latushko paid a working visit to Strasbourg. According to the diplomatic mission, special attention at the meetings was on the organization of presentations to showcase the trade and investment cooperation potential with Belarus for Alsace businessmen. The practice of holding economic presentations in regions is an instrument actively used by the Belarusian embassy in France to demonstrate cooperation opportunities to local businessmen. A total of 24 events of the kind were held in 2013-2015. The next presentation is scheduled for 21 September 2015 in Toulouse.
Pavel Latushko informed Robert Herrmann on the plans to organize the 2nd Belarusian-French Business Forum in Paris in the first half of 2016. The President of the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg expressed interest in the participation of Alsace businessmen in the event.
The Belarusian diplomat briefed Robert Herrmann on the start of the supplies of Belarusian woodworking products to Alsace this week. The agreement on the deliveries was reached at the 1st Belarusian-French Business Forum that was held in Minsk in February 2015.
Alsace is one of the most economically developed regions of France.
