MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Romania Andrei Grinkevich has visited Constanta County in Romania’s historical region in Dobruja, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Romania.

“The main goal of the visit was to promote Belarusian products in the Romanian market and to study the possibility to improve the logistics of Belarus’ export to Romania and to third countries via Romania,” the embassy noted.

The Belarusian ambassador visited the largest terminals of the seaport in Constanta and met with their top managers. During the talks, the parties looked into prospects for using Constanta’s port and logistics infrastructure for promoting Belarusian exports to Romania and via Romania to other EU member states and third countries. They also discussed transit of Romanian exports through Belarus to the EAEU countries, for example, using the infrastructure of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone as one of the hubs of the Silk Road initiative.

Ambassador Andrei Grinkevich also visited local industrial companies that work in such areas as transport, energy industry, agriculture, and discussed with their top managers the establishment and development of cooperation with Belarus.

Constanta is home to the largest port in Romania, which is also the second largest port on the Black Sea. The Danube, the second-longest river in Europe (after the Volga) and the longest river in the EU, flows through Constanta County. This makes the city of Constanta Romania’s sea gate. The region also boasts another advantage – the railway with a railway track gauge of 1,524mm that leads to the seaport. Buses of the Belarusian mechanical engineering company MAZ make part of Constanta’s public transport fleet.
