MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – In 2017 the export of Belarusian goods to Finland went up by 18.2% to $19.5 million, as compared to 2016, BelTA learned from the website of Bellesbumprom Concern.
Under the decision of the Council of Ministers, Chairman of the Bellesbumprom Concern Yuri Nazarov was put in charge of ensuring the expansion and diversification of exports of goods and services to Finland starting from February 2017. The corresponding working group has been set up to fulfill the tasks. The work to increase exports was carried out with the assistance of the Belarusian embassy in Finland.
In January-December 2017 Belarus’ main exports to Finland included metal products (more than 33% of total exports), timber, transmission gear, equipment, women's outerwear, furs. A total of 16 descriptions were exported.
In 2018, there are all the prerequisites for increasing exports to Finland. This can be done through an increase in the supply of fertilizers (the supplies launched in mid-2017), and also fur raw materials. The export of medal products will also be among the priorities.
A number of events are planned to promote cooperation between Belarus and Finland. Bellesbumprom Concern, in cooperation with the Minsk office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has started preparations for a visit of a Belarusian business delegation to the city of Savonlinna for the participation in the 6th Belarusian-Finnish Economic Forum.
