MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – In 2023 Belarus shipped dairy products to 59 countries, Head of the Processing Industry Directorate of the Agriculture and Food Ministry Vadim Pobedinsky told the press conference that discussed the Belarusian dairy industry prospects in 2024,” BelTA has learned.
“Belarus exported dairy products to 59 countries worldwide in 2023. I will give a few figures that speak volumes about the quality of our dairy products. Some 60% of dairy products made in Belarus are sold abroad. As for cheeses, our industry needs just 1.5-2 months of work to meet the needs of the domestic market, the rest of the time it works for export. About 75% of butter is shipped abroad. In general, the dairy industry accounts for about 40% of the export of agricultural products, which is more than any other sector of the agricultural industry,” said Vadim Pobedinsky.
According to him, Belarus’ dairy industry is highly developed. “This industry is undergoing constant improvements, this work is done on a daily basis. This includes advanced training, technical re-equipment, new technologies, and our own know-how, the development of new types of products. It is closely collaborating with the National Academy of Sciences, in particular with the Institute of Meat and Dairy Industry,” Vadim Pobedinsky remarked.
