MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) – Export of Belarusian goods to Finland amounted to $3.5 million in January-February 2019, which was up by 43.3% over the same period in 2018, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian woodworking concern Bellesbumprom.

Under the government resolution, Bellesbumprom Chairman Yury Nazarov is responsible for supervision of Belarus-Finland trade and economic relations. He met with Belarusian Ambassador to Finland Aleksei Samosuyev to discuss the cooperation results of 2018 and outline areas to further foster relations in the near term.

Belarus-Finland trade and economic relations have been developing rapidly and are based on mutual interests of the two countries. In 2018, the trade equaled $127.6 million, up by 4.3% over 2017. Belarusian exports to Finland include insulated wires and cables, timber products, unalloyed steel rods, transmission equipment for cars, women’s outerwear, and other products. The main import items from Finland are fish, rubber, pharmaceutical and oil products, lacquers, dyes, and other goods. “Imports exceed exports. Boosting export to Finland is one of the priority goals,” the press service noted.

In January-February 2019, Belarus’ exports totaled $3.5 million which was up by 43.3% over the same period last year. In comparison with 2018, Belarus increased the export of insulated wires, unalloyed steel rods, ferrous metal works. Carpets and floor covering were also among Belarusian exports. This year, Bellesbumprom factories have launched export of wood fuel and chipboard to Finland.
