MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – In 2015 Belarus’ export to China went beyond $800 million. The figure was mentioned by Liu Xuesong, Counsellor for Trade and Economic Affairs of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Belarus, at a press conference on 4 March, BelTA has learned.
The diplomat said it was important that in 2015 Belarusian-Chinese trade and economic cooperation advanced. “Despite the overall negative trends in international trade Belarus-China trade turnover stayed at roughly the level of the year 2014. It is an excellent figure against the background of the global economic stagnation,” said the official.
“We are particularly glad about the increase in Belarus’ merchandise export to China,” noted Liu Xuesong. He remarked that in 2015 import from China exceeded $2.4 billion.
According to the diplomat, the Chinese side uses every incentive to encourage Chinese companies to buy more Belarusian agricultural products. The Chinese side also puts efforts into equalizing the trade balance between the two countries. Liu Xuesong also said that work is progress on certifying the agricultural products, which are supposed to be sold in China. In his words, 15 Belarusian dairy processing enterprises have already been licensed to export their products to China.
Liu Xuesong said he hopes that Belarusian companies will put more efforts into advertising their products in China and will make them recognizable and popular on the Chinese market.
