MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) - Belarusian forestries increased the export of sawn timber by almost 40% in 2023, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Forestry Ministry.
In 2023, domestic forestries sold more than 955,000 cubic meters of sawn timber products abroad. “This is 37.8% more than in 2022. The figures are record-breaking,” the ministry said. “The Forestry Ministry managed to reorient trade flows from Western European markets to the markets of friendly countries. Today the products of the Belarusian forestry enterprises are supplied to nine countries.
According to the press service, 100 enterprises, including 88 woodworking shops and 12 workshop sites, are engaged in the country’s woodworking activities. Woodworking shops have been preserved in the Belarusian Forestry Ministry system, employing more than 4,500 specialists, living mainly in small towns and rural areas.
