Belarus exploring possibility of exporting MAZ vehicles to Germany

MINSK, 13 July (BelTA) - Belarus is exploring the possibility of exporting MAZ vehicles to Germany, Belarusian Ambassador to Germany Denis Sidorenko told the media ahead of the meting between the heads of Belarusian diplomatic missions and representatives of domestic enterprises at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, BelTA has learned.

According to Ambassador Denis Sidorenko, direct contacts between business will enable Belarus to increase exports to Germany. Belarus is set to increase the share of high-tech exports. “We are exploring the possibilities of promoting our cooperation and exporting our equipment, including MAZ vehicles," he said.

Germany remains one of Belarus’ key partners in the European Union. “Given our rapprochement and normalization of relations with the EU, the interest of German partners in the cooperation with Belarus has increased, including in economic cooperation,” the ambassador said. “We see the interest across all tracks, for example, in terms of joint cooperation, investment, a number of projects including in electric transport. Our classical industry and automotive industry should carve out a niche in the European market.” The Belarusian Embassy in Germany will continue to facilitate contacts for the implementation of joint projects, Ambassador Denis Sidorenko said.

On 13 July the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a meeting of ambassadors with the representatives of enterprises to discuss the interaction of business with diplomatic missions with a view to increasing exports, solving marketing issues and other matters. “The head of state outlined a new approach: foreign economic cooperation is the job of not only the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but all agencies. The meeting was attended by the ambassadors and representatives of more than 100 enterprises. It is very important to compare approaches in the planning of foreign economic activities, their organization, improving efficiency, information support,” Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Ulakhovich said.

Supply contracts worth $108 million were signed during the forums organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2016. “This is a good contribution. It was made posisble thanks to our interaction with the business community and diplomats,” Vladimir Ulakhovich noted.
