MINSK, 28 December (BelTA) – Belarus’ Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection laid out its experience in the field of municipal solid waste management at the seminar in Shanghai (China), reads a post on the ministry's website, BelTA has learned.
The seminar was hosted by the China Center for SCO Environmental Cooperation. The participants of the seminar got acquainted with the experience of the SCO member states in the field of municipal solid waste management, including waste management technologies, legislation. In addition, the Chinese side organized a visit to the Shanghai company for solid waste management. This company is engaged in the solid waste incineration and disposal of medical waste.
The Belarusian delegation comprised Olga Sazonova, the deputy head of the waste management department at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, and Sergei Maslyak, the chairman of the Minsk City Committee of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection. The Belarusian side made a presentation on management of solid municipal waste in Belarus, in particular in Minsk, and on the possible areas of cooperation in this field.
All participants of the seminar spoke in favor of boosting the international cooperation in solid waste management and developing a partnership in the field of environment, green economy and exchange of information.
