ISLAMABAD, 4 October (BelTA) - The contracts to be signed during the fourth Belarusian-Pakistani Business And Investment Forum due in Islamabad on 5 October may exceed $55 million, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Vladimir Ulakhovich told the media, BelTA has learned.
The business forum will be attended by major enterprises of Belarus. A number of contracts are expected to be signed. According to preliminary information, they will be worth about $55 million. “We expect that this sum will be higher. The negotiations still continue. Pakistani partners have a very big interest in our enterprises,” Vladimir Ulakhovich said.
The BCCI Chairman said that all Belarusian industrial giants have partners in Pakistan. Pakistan shows interest in the goods made by Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark), Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark), Belshina tire producer. Pakistani partners would also like to promote cooperation with the enterprises affiliated with the light industry concern Bellegprom.
Mechanical engineering accounts for 15% of the Pakistan import portfolio, chemical products for about 15% and foodstuffs for approximately 10%. “We can offer these goods. Thus, the target of reaching $1 billion in bilateral trade is achievable. With smart marketing policy, we can even beat this target,” said Vladimir Ulakhovich.
