Belarus’ Energy Ministry hopes to strengthen ties with Siemens

MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ Energy Ministry hopes to expand the cooperation with Siemens Company, Belarus’ First Deputy Energy Minister Leonid Shenets told the media on the sidelines of the fifth Belarusian-German Energy Forum in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

Leonid Shenets recalled that a framework agreement was signed with Siemens earlier. The parties are considering the establishment of the service center. “For us it is very important as this center will help us to reduce the time spent on maintenance of the equipment used at the energy-generating facilities,” he explained.

A supplementary agreement will be signed with Siemens in the coming days. Plans have been made to set up a working group. It will examine the approaches to the cooperation and the ways to expand it, the possibilities of setting up new production facilities.

“The experience of Germany in the energy sector, including that of the German Energy Agency can be very useful for us. Therefore, we intend to continue the mutually beneficial cooperation,” Leonid Shenets said.

The program of the Belarusian-German Energy Forum envisages a plenary session to consider the energy efficiency policy in the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Belarus and two thematic panels to consider sustainable energy supply, renewable energy, energy efficiency of buildings and other issues. Participants will visit the sites of the Belarusian energy system: Minsk CHPP 2, substation in Kolyadichi and an energy-efficient house in the Loshitsa 9 neighborhood in Minsk

Among the participants are representatives of the Energy Ministry and the Architecture and Construction Ministry of Belarus, the Representation of German Economy in Belarus, the German Energy Agency (Dena), and the diplomatic corps.

The forum has been organized by the Belarusian Energy Ministry and the Architecture and Construction Ministry, the German Energy Agency and the Representation of German Economy in Belarus under the auspices of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany.
