Belarus elected to UNCTAD Working Party on Strategic Framework, Program Budget

MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – Belarus has been elected to the Working Party on the Strategic Framework and the Program Budget of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) for 2016. The decision was made by the UNCTAD Trade and Development Board, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Working Party on the Strategic Framework and the Program Budget is one of UNCTAD's key bodies. It regulates the distribution of budgetary and non-budgetary funds of the organization. “The fact that Belarus has been elected to one of the major bodies of the UN system shows that our active role in the United Nations is recognized,” the press service noted.

“Belarus is determined to participate in the activities of the Working Party in order to draw UNCTAD’s attention and funds to the priority issues on its economic agenda and the agenda of the Eurasian Economic Union,” the press service added.
