MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) - Ecuador is interested in cooperation with Belarus in disaster-risk management and emergency response, the press service of the Emergencies Ministry informed following a meeting between Ecuador Ambassador to Belarus Carlos Larrea Davila and Belarus’ Emergencies Minister Vladimir Vashchenko, BelTA has learned.
“During the meeting, the Ecuadorian side expressed gratitude to the Government of Belarus and the Emergencies Ministry for the delivery of the international humanitarian aid to Ecuador in wake of the earthquake on 16 April 2016,” the press service said.
The parties discussed the organization of a visit of Ecuador’s Minister of Security and Coordination Cesar Navas to Belarus. The visit is planned in the near future.
“The parties expressed hope for the further development of the Belarusian-Ecuadorian cooperation in disaster-risk management and emergency response,” the press service informed.
As was reported, at the request of the Ecuadorian authorities, Belarus delivered 50 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Eloy Alfaro Air Base in Manta, Manabi province. The humanitarian cargo on board included tents, blankets, mobile diesel power stations and folding beds to the total tune of almost Br6 billion (pre-redenomination).
