Belarus eager to triple earnings from microelectronics sales by 2030

MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – Belarus intends to more than triple earnings from selling microelectronic products by 2030. Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Parkhomchik mentioned it during the government conference hosted by Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko to discuss the development of the microelectronics industry, BelTA has learned.

Piotr Parkhomchik said: “Total sales from selling Belarusian microelectronic and electronic machine-building products will rise to $200 million in 2025. It will reach $330-350 million by 2030. It will be 3.3 times up from 2021. I’d like to stress that these are minimal targets.”

The official said that the instructions the head of state gave during the government conference on the development of the Belarusian microelectronics industry in June 2022 had been fulfilled. A program to guide the development of Belarus’ microelectronics industry till 2030 has been approved. Belarus and Russia have compiled a list of necessary electronic components and a roadmap on developing microelectronics production has been reconciled. A Belarusian-Russian center for making photolithographic masks has been set up.

Apart from that, a set of measures to man the microelectronics industry with qualified personnel is being fulfilled. The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus provides scientific support for the industry. An innovative industrial cluster has been set up. It has determined promising R&D avenues with a view to setting up manufacturing enterprises and microelectronic products.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted during the conference: “The key thing I am worried about is that scientists, product engineers, and people on the ground have to understand what needs to be done and where we should go. If we have people like that, then we will always find money for it. And we have people like that.”
