MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in selling sawn timber to Armenia. Belarusian Forestry Minister Aleksandr Kulik made the statement after meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Belarus Razmik Khumaryan, the ministry’s press service told BelTA.
Aleksandr Kulik and Razmik Khumaryan discussed preparations for the forthcoming session of the Belarus-Armenia intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation. The session is scheduled to take place in Yerevan in late September. Aleksandr Kulik is the co-chairman of the Belarusian side. In his words, Belarus is ready for further expansion of cooperation, including in timber industry. “We see Armenia is busy building and rebuilding houses. We are ready to supply our construction materials, including sawn timber, to this remarkable country,” the minister stressed.
According to Razmik Khumaryan, Belarusian goods are in demand in Armenia. In 2023 Belarus and Armenia will mark the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. A series of events will be held in anticipation of the date such as photo exhibitions, days of Armenian culture in Belarus.
Belarus-Armenia trade has been growing for the last few years. The positive dynamics has been registered this year, too. Belarus-Armenia trade rose by over 70% in January-June 2022 to $60.3 million.
