MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – The participation of Belarusian specialists in building the Paks 2 nuclear power plant in Hungary is under consideration. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Hungary Vladimir Ulakhovich mentioned it on the air of the TV channel Belarus One, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Ulakhovich said: “Hungary has managed to resolve the problem of continuing the development of its nuclear power plant. They have managed to come to terms with the European Commission and it has virtually been decided that Rosatom will continue building the Paks 2 facility. It will use the same kind of reactor the Belarusian nuclear power plant has – VVER-1200. The fact opens up opportunities for interaction in this sector. Our specialists in the field of construction and operation have serious qualifications and are wanted by Hungarian partners.”

An expert group is being set up and will take care of working out the interaction program. “We have already presented proposals of the Belarusian side. We are now waiting for an answer from Hungary. Our experience of construction and exploitation is in demand. The qualification of Belarusian specialists is simply impeccable and enjoys very high demand. Engineers, construction workers, and operation specialists are wanted. Initially we are talking about setting up the expert group, which will evaluate cooperation opportunities, will arrange initial consultations. More concrete cooperation will be the result,” the ambassador noted.
