Belarus-designed agrotown built in Russia’s Sakhalin

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) – The first-ever special agrotown in Sakhalin’s modern history designed by Belarusians has been inaugurated in the south of the island, the press service of the Sakhalin Oblast governor and government noted as quoted by the Belarusian Embassy in Russia, BelTA informs.

“The first nine families received the keys from their apartments in the new building in Belorusskaya Street from Governor Oleg Kozhemyako. These are the workers of the Korsakovsky cooperative farm. The agrotown has 50 furnished one-storey three-room houses. Each house has a total floor area of up to 100 square meters. To date, this is the largest modern agricultural housing construction project in Sakhalin Oblast,” the press service said.

Belarus and Russia are also building a cutting-edge dairy complex at the cooperative farm. The constructors are guided by the best practices of similar Belarusian companies. All in all, the investment project is meant to generate 60 new jobs. Designed for 1,000 animal units, the stock breeding complex will become the largest in the Far East. As soon as it reaches the capacity envisaged in the project, it will produce over 7,000 tonnes of milk per annum. The project is 90% ready at the moment. All the buildings have been put up, the installation of the dairy equipment is nearing completion. The first batch of cattle is expected to arrive there in Q3 2018.

The international project implemented in Sakhalin makes part of the State Program for the Development of Agriculture and Regulation of Agricultural Commodities Markets in 2013-2020.
