MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) – Enterprises affiliated with the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry increased dairy export to China 5.6 times in January-July 2018, Aleksei Bogdanov, Head of the Central Office for Foreign Economic Activities of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, told a press conference in Minsk on 4 September, BelTA has learned.

“In January-July 2018 Belarus’ farm export to China totaled $23.3 million, up 4.2 times over last year. Dairy was the biggest contributor. In January-July, we set a record having supplied 57,300 tonnes worth $20 million. Dairy export to China rose almost 5.6 times over last year’s level in money terms and 6.9 times in physical terms,” Aleksei Bogdanov said.

The first container train carrying Belarusian dairy products set off to China on 4 September. “Plans are in place to add more cars to trains. The goal is to ramp up dairy export to China up to 100 containers per month and to extend the product range. Today we sent skimmed milk to China. We also supply whey, dried whole milk. We actively promote finished products such as cheese and butter. We also seek to branch out into the Chinese yogurt market,” Aleksei Bogdanov noted.

Almost all Belarusian dairy plants have been certified to export their products to China.
