MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) – Belarus and Cuba will cooperate in the biotechnology field, BelTA learned from the press service of the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone.
A memorandum of understanding was signed at the Great Stone park between BioCubaFarma, which is the umbrella corporation for Cuba’s pharmaceutical and biotech industry and research institutes, the Administration of the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone, the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, as well as the Belpharmprom Holding Company and LOTIOS research center.
“The document will help promote academic contacts in areas that are of mutual interest to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries of the two countries. It will also help launch new products and technology platforms in the field of biotechnology,” the press service informed.
In addition, representatives of the Cuban company visited the innovation center and studied the working conditions of startups in the Great Stone park.
The China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone is a special economic zone with a special legal regime. It is located 25km away from Minsk. The park’s priority development areas include mechanical engineering, electronics and telecommunications, biotechnologies, pharmaceutics, new materials, logistics, digital commerce, big data storage and processing.
