MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) – It is necessary to enliven trade and economic cooperation with the Russian Federation’s Novosibirsk Oblast. The statement was made by Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich during the meeting with Novosibirsk Oblast Governor Vladimir Gorodetsky on 24 November, BelTA has learned.
Mikhail Myasnikovich said: “On the whole, I am positive about our cooperation, but the trade turnover has dropped a bit. We may need brand new approaches to revitalizing the trade and economic process and other ones.” The MP explained that improving the schemes used to provide loans for sales and developing industrial cooperation is the idea. Mikhail Myasnikovich remarked that leasing should be more utilized for selling vehicles and machines.
“We have a lot of space to expand the relations,” stressed the head of the upper chamber of the Belarus parliament. Mikhail Myasnikovich thanked the Novosibirsk Oblast Governor for supporting Belarusian-Russian cooperation.
The Belarus government and the Novosibirsk Oblast administration signed the agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation on 8 December 2012. In 2014 the bilateral trade volume totaled $230.1 million. In January-September 2015 the figure stood at $103.8 million. Belarus’ main exports include tractors and truck tractors, oil products, socks and hosiery, computers. In 2015 Belarus exported more cheese, quark, sugar, and other goods. Imports from Novosibirsk Oblast include food, pharmaceutical products, chemical products, plastic goods, textiles, footwear and so on.
