MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) – Belarus is looking into the possibility of exporting electricity to Latvia taking into account the country’s decision to possibly import electricity from third countries, BelTA learned from Anatoly Glaz, Head of the Information and Digital Diplomacy Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mass media reports about Latvia’s decision to trade in electricity with third countries indicate that it would be technically very complicated and could be done using existing power lines between Latvia and Russia. “If we talk about the Latvian decision without going deep into technical details, I can say that our diplomats together with colleagues from the Energy Ministry, the relevant experts are taking a close look at it,” the official explained.
