MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) – Contracts to export Belarusian goods worth $539 million were concluded during the 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, Chairman of the upper house of the Belarusian parliament Mikhail Myasnikovich said at a session of the Council of the Republic on 31 October, BelTA has learned.
“Commercial contracts to export Belarusian goods worth $539 million were concluded during the 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Mogilev on 10-12 October 2018. I would like to emphasize that these are not export/import contracts, but the contracts of Belarusian exports only. 79 agreements were signed to boost cooperation between the regions of Belarus and Russia,” said Mikhail Myasnikovich.
In his words, at the forum Russian partners actively supported equal business opportunities with Belarus. “The program of the forum featured meetings of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission of the Council of the Republic and the Federation Council on Interregional Cooperation, and a number of other important events. All Belarusian regions displayed their achievements at regional platforms. The key event of the forum was a plenary session with the participation of the presidents of Belarus and Russia. The two heads of state praised the role of the forum as an opportunity to discuss and resolve a wide range of issues in Belarusian-Russian relations,” the chairman of the Council of the Republic said.
