MINSK, 24 July (BelTA) – Qatar has got interested in Belarusian food products, Charge d’Affaires of the Republic of Belarus in the State of Qatar Aleksei Malafei told journalists, BelTA has learned.
According to Aleksei Malafei, the two countries have a long history of cooperation in politics, trade and economy. Now Belarus and Qatar are focused on building on this cooperation and on ramping up investments and exports.
“Qatar is interested in our foodstuffs. In March, for the first time ever, we brought nine Belarusian enterprises to Qatar to take part in an exhibition. There is interest in Belarus-made powdered milk, butter, cottage cheese, chicken eggs. Qatar believes that our producers could contribute to ensuring food security of Qatar,” he said.
The diplomat recalled that in March the national air carrier Belavia launched charter flights to Doha, the capital of Qatar. “We want not only Belarusian tourists to fly to Qatar, but also Qatari tourists to travel to Belarus. Also, Doha could become an important passenger hub,” the diplomat said.
